Make sure any DiscoveryAssistant projects to be added to the GlobalMaster project have had all their items added. A DiscoveryAssistant project becomes “frozen” once it has been added to the GlobalMaster project, meaning that items cannot be added or removed from the converted tab.
DiscoveryAssistant projects can be added to or removed from the GlobalMaster project at any time but existing projects will have to be re-synchronized (more on this below).
NOTE: When creating DiscoveryAssistant projects to be added to a GlobalMaster project you must ensure that generated Hash Codes are based on the entire file contents. To do this in DiscoveryAssistant press the “Options” button, navigate to the “De-Duping” tab and select a Hash Code sample size of ‘0’. If you plan on adding an existing DiscoveryAssistant project to a GlobalMaster project you can change the Hash Code sample size using the above method and you will be prompted to regenerate the Hash Codes. Do this before adding the DiscoveryAssistant project to the GlobalMaster project. Changing the Hash Code sample size on a DiscoveryAssistant project that is already a member of a GlobalMaster project will have no result. You must remove the DiscoveryAssistant project from the GlobalMaster project before changing the Hash Code sample size.
Run the GlobalMaster application and create a new GlobalMaster project or open an existing one if you want to add to it.
Add one or more DiscoveryAssistant projects by dragging and dropping them onto the GlobalMaster application or by clicking the “Add” button. NOTE: You must ensure that none of the DiscoveryAssistant projects that are being added are currently opened in DiscoveryAssistant.
When all DiscoveryAssistant projects have been added click on the “Sync All” button. This will synchronize all the DiscoveryAssistant projects that are currently referenced by the GlobalMaster project. Synchronizing a DiscoveryAssistant project causes the “Global Primary” and “Global Count” fields of each converted item in each DiscoveryAssistant project to be updated. “Global Primary” means that the item in question is first of more than one item in the GlobalMaster project that has a particular Hash Code value. “Global Count” is the count of items in the GlobalMaster project that have a particular Hash Code value.
Save the GlobalMaster project.
You can now open any of the DiscoveryAssistant projects included in the GlobalMaster project using DiscoveryAssistant and view the values for “Global Primary” and “Global Count” in the Converted and Stamped Tabs. The values for “Global Primary”, “Global Count”, and “Hash Code” can be stamped on the output files (see the “Stamp” tab in the “Options” dialog). These values can also be exported to external systems.
